At this age children/teenagers are starting or are going through many changes in their life physically and mentally. Exercise benefits every part of their body and especially their mind.

Exercising causes the body to produce endorphins, chemicals that can help them feel more happy. At this age their self esteem and confidence is sometimes a bit lower so not only will exercising help them feel better about themselves but they will become healthier and stronger.

Regular exercise can also translate into performing better in school as it will increase there energy through the day and then let them sleep better at night. Finding an exercise that your child/teenager enjoys is the most important as they are at the stage that if they don’t enjoy it they will look for excuses to get out of it.

There is lots of options out there they can play a team sport, individual sport or even family sport outings for example going for a hike or a kayak.

So it is critical that we as parents make exercise a PRIORITY for the entire family. A healthy diet along with great exercise is the way to go.
